Danny Welbeck will not be back until well into the new year |
DANNY WELBECK is not expected to return for Arsenal until February due to bone bruising in his knee.
The England star has not played for the Gunners since April and had surgery in September after being unable to increase his rehabilitation work.
It was hoped that 25-year-old would be back in the New Year but Wenger confirmed the forward faces at least another two months out.
Wenger said: "Unfortunately he was injured at the end of April and we are now at the end of December and he is still not available because of a bone bruising.
"That deteriorated and it is a big blow to us.
"Especially now we cannot rotate."
Arsenal are set to be without Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere and Francis Coquelin for Monday night's top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City.
