MANCHESTER UNITED goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has joined Preston North End on a 28-day loan.
The 22-year-old returns to Deepdale having spent the second-half of last season at the club.
Johnstone's move follows Jordan Pickford's recall back to Sunderland by Sam Allardyce.
Preston boss Simon Grayson said: "The disappointment of him [Jordan] going back is balanced out by the positive news that we have been able to sign Sam Johnstone on a 28-day loan.
"He is someone we know well and tried to sign in the summer.
"This loan gets Sam some game time and Manchester United will assess the situation again at the end of it."
Grayson also revealed Preston have the option of signing Johnstone on 93-day loan or extending the deal until the end of the season.
