Carrick: I've spoken to Man Utd's youngsters after another disappointing defeat
Michael Carrick is confident Manchester United will get out of their rut

MICHAEL CARRICK says he has discussed how Manchester United's youngsters can help lift the club out of its current rut.

United are winless in five games and in the Premier League last Saturday.
The defeat came just five days on from their humiliating Champions League exit at the hands of Wolfsburg.
Injuries and a lack of form have hampered United's title challenge - although they sit just four points of league leaders Arsenal.

And midfielder Carrick, 34, told the Sun he has spoken to United's younger players to ensure they are ready for their upcoming fixtures.
“It’s been a tough one to take, very disappointing week," Carrick said of Saturday's loss.
“Going out of the Champions League was obviously hard and we were very disappointed.
“We tried to bounce back and to fall short like we have is doubly disappointing.
“I could say different reasons, I could talk a lot, but at the end of the day it’s about the results.

“We need to get back, stick together and trust ourselves to do the right thing and bounce back next week.
“We’ve had a few injuries but I’m not making any excuses.
“I thought the young lads did well. It was a tough one for them to come into.
“They have stepped in and done well. I’ve spoken to them about the performance and certain things.”
Inexperienced defender Guillermo Varela, 22, made his second start in a week for United, while 18-year-old Cameron Borthwick-Jackson also got a nod for Saturday's game.
The Red Devils host Norwich in the league this Saturday before a trip to stoke, and home games against Chelsea and Swansea complete their festive schedule.
