FORMER Arsenal winger Marc Overmars has taken a swipe at Louis van Gaal's critics after mounting scrutiny of his work at Manchester United.
Van Gaal has come under heavy scrutiny after United were knocked out of the Champions League and are winless in their last five matches.
It has also been claimed senior players at United are unhappy with Van Gaal's tactics and have openly questioned the Dutchman in the dressing room.
"It’s crazy to criticise him so much already," the Ajax director of football told The Sun.
"In football you need patience.
"They are building a new team. Yes, they have spent a lot of money, but leave him to do his job.
"He has had difficult times before in his career, but always comes through.
"He will survive and build a very strong team."
