Arsene Wenger backs Jose Mourinho to keep Chelsea in Premier League

 

ARSENE WENGER believes Chelsea have “no chance” of going down this season and maintains they are not in a relegation battle even though they are only a point above the bottom three.

 

“Are they in a relegation battle? No,” he said. “Because of the quality of their team and their manager as well.

“If you ask me objectively, will Chelsea go down I will say “no chance”. 

 

"They are going through a difficult spell but they are not in a relegation battle.”

However, he refused to be drawn on whether he felt Chelsea’s best chances of turning their season around lay with standing by Jose Mourinho or sacking him.

“I do not want to assess any other things about Chelsea,” Wenger said. “It’s not my problem - my problem is the game on Monday night.”

And when asked about whether he felt the same sympathy towards Mourinho as he expressed in the past, he said simply: “I just gave you a good answer.”
