More people have perished Black Friday sales than shark attacks
BLACK Friday shoppers BEWARE – it turns out discounted HD TVs cause more deaths than carnivorous sharks with three sets of replaceable razor-sharp teeth.
 
Someone has built a website that lists the total number of deaths and injuries caused by Black Friday sales.
The total currently stands at seven Black Friday-related deaths and 98 injuries.
That figure means Black Friday is responsible for more deaths in the United States than shark attacks.
 
Since 2006 – the start date picked by the creator of the Black Friday Death Count website – only five Americans have died in shark attacks, compared to the seven who perished in Black Friday sales.
According to statistics from National Geographic, there are an average of 16 shark attacks in the United States each year. The country sees one fatal attack once every two years.
The last Black Friday death reported on the website dates back to 2013 when a teenager died in a car crash, following a Black Friday shopping spree.

The 19-year-old Missouri shopper fell asleep at the wheel after taking advantage of Black Friday sales. North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers said four passengers were in the car at the time of the crash, all of whom were asleep during impact. 
All four passengers were taken to hospital.
The website links to local media reports confirming the various deaths and injuries.
New channel NBC Miami reports that in 2012, two shoppers were injured in a shooting over a parking space outside Walmart during the Black Friday sales.

UK shoppers have been warned about the dangers of Black Friday sales
Here in the UK, customers have been warned to prepare for large crowds and scuffles during the Black Friday rush.
The US shopping day was imported by a number of British high street stores.
Police arrested a man in Salford after he threatened to "smash a staff member's face in" during the sales. Another woman broke her wrist in a crush for discounted items.
Black Friday – historically the big sales day in America that follows the Thanksgiving holiday – is being adopted by an increasing number of shops in the UK.
Except ASDA, which this year has decided to cancel its Black Friday discounts.
