Microsoft have given an update on Red Dead Redemption coming to Xbox One |
The Xbox 360 title was one of the most requested from fans but is not part of Microsoft's first group of games made available through the Backward Compatibility program.
Mike Ybarra, Director of Program Management for Xbox, announced the first 104 games coming to Xbox One that can be downloaded or installed via the original disc, telling fans: "At Xbox, we believe that gaming is universal and should be enjoyed by everyone, everywhere.
"Our philosophy since launching Xbox One two years ago has been to put gamers at the center of everything we do and create the best, most seamless gaming experience possible.
"Our launch of 104 titles on Nov. 12 is just the beginning. You can expect new Xbox One Backward Compatible games to be announced on a regular basis, starting in December.
"More titles are on the way, including fan favorites like Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite and Skate 3. Stay tuned because this just the beginning of a long list of Xbox 360 games that will run on Xbox One."

Microsoft engineer Richard Irving gave an update on the situation, telling Eurogamer: "After the technological breakthrough that got backwards compatibility working, the next step was to figure out how to license all this content, originally released on Xbox 360, for Xbox One
And speaking directly about the Red Dead sequel, Irving added: "We're definitely engaged with all of our publisher and developer partners--including Rockstar--on when and how we can [deliver] on that fan feedback."
