Former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has called for Wayne Rooney to head to China.

The Manchester United star is reportedly wanted to boost the profile of Chinese football.

And Eriksson, who manages Shanghai SIPG, told The Sun: "Football is becoming huge here and they have very big ambitions for the Chinese Super League.

"Everybody in China knows the superstar players like him. Rooney would take this league to another level, I have no doubt about that."
 
Arsenal are preparing a fresh move for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, according to reports.

The Gunners were linked with the Argentina international this summer, before Arsene Wenger chose not to sign an outfield players.

But Italian newspaper Tuttosport claim Arsenal could revive their interest in Icardi in January.

Brazil international Alexandre Pato could be heading to England in January
Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal are all reportedly keeping tabs on Brazil ace Alexandre Pato.

The London Evening Standard report Pato is available for £11million and has been offered to Premier League clubs.

The 26-year-old has seen his career stall in recent seasons after leaving AC Milan in 2012 but appears to have put his injury problems behind him.
