TOTTENHAM boss Mauricio Pochettino is recalling Andros Townsend for this weekend’s clash with West Ham after he apologised for breaching discipline.
The forward was forced to train with the Under 21 squad after clashing with fitness coach Nigel Gardiner following the win against Aston Villa.
But he is now back in favour after saying sorry. Pochettino said: “Tuesday he started training again with his team mates. For me he has apologised to people.
“He is still young, improving and for me he has to forget the past.
“We need to provide the possibility again for him to be part of the team.”
Meanwhile Pochettino insists expectations should not rise following Dele Alli’s stunning goalscoring full England debut on Tuesday against France.
He said: “He was like a senior player.
“But we need to be careful with Dele because a lot of things change with his mind. We need to protect him. We need to advise him and ensure he has his feet on the ground. But he has potential.
“It is step by step. If you deserve a new contract, the club will give it to you. We need to stay calm but Tottenham always pay players a good salary.”
