"I have had some contact with my team-mates, especially on WhatsApp," Mata told Goal.com.
"Wayne Rooney was telling me that they were going to beat us and that they are ready to play against Spain.
"They were watching some videos about us, about how we play, who could play, and I think they are very keen on playing the game and beating us. So obviously we have to be ready for that."

Mata went on to praise Rooney's ability, despite Hodgson deciding against playing him in the friendly.
“I know he can play in different positions," Mata added. "At the end it’s Roy Hodgson or Louis van Gaal who decides but obviously if he’s close to the box he will score more.
“I feel very proud to play alongside him in my team and it will be very difficult to face him tomorrow.”
