Real Madrid back former Liverpool and Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez despite Barcelona defeat
Rafa Benitez has been given a stay of execution
REAL MADRID president Florentino Perez has backed under-fire Rafa Benitez - calling him the chosen one.

Madrid called a press conference this evening following the humiliating defeat to Barcelona on Saturday.
Los Blancos lost 4-0 at the Bernabeu and fans were calling for Perez's head.
But today, despite the speculation Zinedine Zidane was poised to take over, Perez has insisted Benitez remains their man.

”We have had a board meeting and analysed the sporting situation at Real Madrid," Perez said.
“Rafa has all our support and all our confidence.
"Rafa Benitez has all the ability and has only just started his job here.
“Let him keep working and he will achieve his objectives.

"We are convinced that we have a great squad that will give much happiness to a fanbase that deserves everything.
"Rafael Benitez is the chosen one to bring success to this squad that since January has struggled.
"Now more than ever he needs the support of all of our followers.
"I understand the unhappiness and the anger of the fan base with what happened on Saturday, but I ask them that they support the team."
However Perez did go on to muddy the waters, admitting anything could happen in the future.
"I’m talking about this moment we are in now," he added. "I can not say what will happen in the future, nobody knows what could happen in six months."
