PHILIPPE COUTINHO scored twice as Liverpool beat Wolves 3-2 in a behind-closed-doors friendly this afternoon.
The 23-year-old was not selected by Brazil boss Dunga for their World Cup qualifying matches against Argentina and Peru despite his impressive form for the Reds.
He scored a brace against Chelsea last month and got on the scoresheet again with a goal in the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
With most of the Liverpool squad away on international duty, players left behind such as Roberto Firmino, Lucas Leiva, Dejan Lovren, Alberto Moreno and Kolo Toure all took part in the practice match at Melwood.
Coutinho and Firmino scored for Liverpool in the first half but they were pegged back by two goals from Adam Le Fondre.
And Coutinho settled the match late on to give Jurgen Klopp’s men victory.
Liverpool: George, Alexander-Arnold, Toure, Lovren, Moreno, Lucas, Allan, Teixeira, Coutinho, Firmino, Sinclair.
Subs: Woodburn, Ojo, Dunn, Whelan, Ejaria, Canos, Kane.
