Manuel Pellegrini wants his side to finish top of Group D |
MANUEL PELLEGRINI rang the changes at Sevilla and was rewarded with a fine 3-1 win as his side cruised into the knock-out stages with two matches to spare.
The Manchester City boss saw Raheem Sterling, Fernandinho and Wilfried Bony score to see off Sevilla and said: “I’m happy because it was almost the complete game in terms of technicality and tactics.
“We had good possession and could have scored more. I was not happy with the way we were playing so I changed the system. People ask why Kevin De Bruyne didn’t play, but it’s important to change the team sometimes.”

Now Pellegrini wants his side to win the group and avoid one of Europe’s big guns in the last 16.
He said: “We will still try to qualify in first position in the group. It’s very important, and after this we must hope for a good draw.”
