Jesse Lingard has been rated as 50-50 for Man Utd's clash with Leicester |
LOUIS VAN GAAL has been dealt another blow as according to reports Jesse Lingard has been given just a 50-50 chance of being fit for Manchester United's top of the table clash at Leicester.
The 22-year-old felt his hamstring tighten in the closing stages of United's goalless Champions League draw with PSV at Old Trafford.
And the Mirror claim the youngster was sent for a scan on Thursday and his chances of being fit to play at the King Power Stadium tomorrow were rated as 50-50.
The news will come as a huge blow to Van Gaal who announced on Friday defender Phil Jones and midfielder Ander Herrera would also miss the match because of their respective ankle and hamstring injuries.
Midfielder Michael Carrick is also unlikely to feature as he is still recovering from the ankle injury he suffered playing for England against Spain two weeks ago.
Long-term absentees Luke Shaw (leg) and Antonio Valencia (foot) remain sidelined.
Lingard's form has been one of the few recent bright spots for under-fire van Gaal in recent weeks, but the Dutchman will now be sweating on the fitness of the midfielder ahead of the crucial encounter.
