Manchester United are reported to be preparing a bumper offer for Neymar |
MANCHESTER UNITED are preparing a bumper package worth £14million a season to lure Neymar form Barcelona, according to reports in Spain.
The Brazilian has been linked persistently with a move to United and talks are understood to have taken place in the summer.
Nothing materialised despite reports that he told friends he was considering the move.
But Spanish publication Don Balon say Louis van Gaal's side are now determined to do all they can to get him.
Neymar, 23, has been in stunning form this season, with 11 goals in 10 La Liga appearances.
He has stepped up in the absence of Lionel Messi, who has been out injured since picking up a knock against Las Palmas in September.
However, some reports claim he is keen to step out of Messi's shadow entirely, something he feels he can not do while the pair are at Barca together.
That might mean he is keen to move, and United could be the benefactors in such an instance.
Lionel Messi has also been linked with a move away from Barcelona |
There have also been suggestions that Messi could be the one to leave instead, with the 28-year-old becoming increasingly frustrated with developments over his alleged tax fraud.
A judge has urged the case to go to trial and Messi is said to be unsettled in Spain as a result.
If he was to leave, Arsenal are his favoured destination, while United and Chelsea have also been linked.
Any club hoping to sign him might have to stump up wages in the region of £600,000 a week, as well as a transfer fee in the region of £190m.
