Jurgen Klopp has made a steady start to life at Liverpool |
JAN MOLBY has warned Liverpool supporters that Jurgen Klopp “is not a magician” as the German settles in at Anfield.
Klopp suffered his first defeat as Reds manager last weekend when his side lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace.
Liverpool will look to bounce back after the international break but they face a daunting trip to the Etihad to face Premier League leaders Manchester City.
However Molby, who spent 12 years at Liverpool, has calmed expectations despite saying Klopp has done a “good job” so far.
“A month into his Anfield reign I think that Jurgen Klopp has done a good job," Molby told the Liverpool Echo.
“I would give him a seven out of 10 so far. I think that we now look like a team that could win more games and perhaps go on a run of wins.
“But there is a limit to how far you can take any football team and Jurgen Klopp is a football manager, not a magician. He will want to move forward with a group of players, some of whom are already at Anfield and some of whom are not here yet."
And Molby predicts Klopp will look to the Bundesliga to bolster the Liverpool squad in January.
He added: “I would like him to do business in the January window because there is everything to play for.
“For Klopp as a new manager he will instantly have identified something he can improve upon – he will be thinking 'we're missing this and I know where to go to get it'.
“For me there is nothing wrong if he wants to go back to Germany, Jurgen should work in the market he knows best.”
