Sturridge has not appeared for Jurgen Klopp yet |
DANIEL STURRIDGE is back on Liverpool’s injury list after pulling out of the Reds' Europa League victory over Bordeaux at the eleventh hour due to a foot problem.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp saw his side progress into the knock-out stages of the competition following a 2-1 win, but was again without Sturridge who was sent for a scan as his fitness problems flared yet again.
The forward trained at Melwood yesterday morning as normal, but reported a problem with his foot after Liverpool had arrived at their pre-match hotel.
He had been unlikely to start against Bordeaux and it was left to Christian Benteke to earn a dubious penalty, converted by James Milner, before conjuring an excellent winning goal in first-half stoppage time.
“I can’t say so much about this because he trained in the morning, then we went to the hotel and Daniel was with us and then he had to leave to go for a scan,” said Klopp.
“It was close to the game when the news came.
“At this moment I cannot say more, we have to wait for the results.”
Sturridge has yet to make an appearance under Klopp having suffered a knee injury in the build up to his first game in charge against Tottenham at the start of last month.

Liverpool fell behind to Bordeaux when Simon Mignolet was penalised for holding onto the ball for 22 seconds – six are the maximum – and Henri Saivet scored from a free-kick inside the area.
“I waited just too long,” said Mignolet. “The main thing is that we responded.”
Liverpool must avoid defeat against FC Sion in a fortnight to progress as winners of Group B and Klopp said: “There were many good things in this game. It was more difficult when Bordeaux took risks. That is normal. It was a big fight and I am very happy to be qualified.”
