DIEGO COSTA'S behaviour is "petulant and disrespectful to the fans," according to Jamie Redknapp.
The Spaniard was not best pleased in yesterday's 0-0 draw with Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
After realising that Jose Mourinho was not going to send him on, the 27-year-old took off his bib and hurled it in the direction of his Portuguese boss.
Costa's poor form this season has seen him linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, yet Mourinho insists he has a good relationship with the forward.
But Redknapp believes Costa, who has netted four times this season, shouldn't be acting childishly because it's unfair on the Blues faithful.
"This time last season if somebody said Diego Costa would not start away at Tottenham you would think they were crazy," the former Liverpool defender wrote in his Daily Mail column. "He was a warrior last year and Chelsea's talisman.
"This season he has been poor. He was dropped to the bench at White Hart Lane and threw his bib away when he wasn't brought on.
"Some will say that just shows how much he wants to play. For me it's petulant and disrespectful to the fans. That's not to say they won't forgive him because we've all seen a lot worse in football, but it's poor behaviour and they deserve better.
"It was a very good performance by Chelsea, a real Jose Mourinho display. They were well-organised, defended well and had their chances in the second half.
"Costa should learn from the discipline shown by his team-mates because I'm sure Mourinho can't be too happy with his conduct. And if Mourinho is looking for any kind of reason to edge him out, then this is exactly the kind of behaviour that will go against him."
