JAMIE REDKANPP has warned Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere he risks losing his place in the England team to Tottenham's Eric Dier.
Dier impressed on his first start for Roy Hodgosn's Three Lions in the 2-0 win over France at Wembley last night.
Meanwhile, Wilshere is still suffering from an injury that has ruled him out for all of this season
And former Liverpool and Spurs midfielder Redknapp thinks Dier could be the perfect replacement for Wilshere in the England midfield.
"Eric Dier is the biggest pleasant surprise for Hodgson and he owes (Tottenham manager) Mauricio Pochettino for that," he wrote in his column for The Daily Mail.
"At Spurs, Dier’s been transformed from a versatile defender into a powerful defensive midfielder.
“For me, there’s no doubt he will go to Euro 2016. Jack Wilshere now has competition for that place in front of the back four and I think Dier has a role to play, particularly against the big teams.”
Wilshere recently underwent surgery and is not expected to be back for the Gunners until the new year.
