Liverpool have all-but agreed to sign Alexandre Pato from Corinthians |
LIVERPOOL have agreed a deal to sign Alexandre Pato, according to Corinthians president Roberto de Andrade.
De Andrade revealed that the deal was all-but done with Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web saying the Brazilian will cost £14.3million.
Pato has been a target for the Reds' arch rivals Manchester United as well as West Ham and Tottenham.
The 26-year-old is currently on loan at Corinthians but his parent club Sao Paulo say he is close to leaving them permanently.
"There is an agreement in principle with Liverpool for the transfer in the coming weeks,” De Andrade said.
“Pato had long expressed a desire to return to Europe.
"Liverpool await, there are a few missing details, but Klopp will have a new reinforcement and for Pato the Premier League will be a new springboard."
Pato recently admitted that the Red Devils approached him on transfer deadline day but talks started too late.
The former AC Milan sensation would be Klopp's first signing since replacing Brendan Rodgers as Kop boss.
He has made 30 appearances for Corinthians scoring nine goals since being loaned from Sao Paulo.
