David Moyes has been sacked as manager of Real Sociedad |
The former Manchester United and Everton manager took over the La Liga side last November.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Real Sociedad has decided to terminate the contract of first team coach David Moyes.
"The club wishes to thank both David Moyes and Billy McKinlay for their entire contribution, professionalism and dedication they have shown during the course of their duties in the direction of the first team.
"We wish them the best for their professional and personal future."
After being relieved of his duties at Old Trafford, the Scot moved abroad and made an immediate impact by leading Sociedad to seventh in Spain's top tier.
However, he came under intense pressure after a stuttering start to the current campaign.
He leaves the Basque-country club languishing in 16th, with a record of just 12 wins in 42 games.
A 2-0 defeat at Las Palmas on Friday appeared to be the final straw.
