Coach defends Chelsea ace and tips Man United's David de Gea to emulate Iker Casillas
Vicente Del Bosque has defended criticism of Diego Costa

SPAIN coach Vicente del Bosque believes David De Gea can follow in the footsteps of Iker Casillas.

The Manchester United and former Real Madrid ace are both battling for a No.1 spot in Spain's squad.
Casillas is his country's most capped player with 164 caps but with De Gea only 25 years of age and in impressive form for the Red Devils, Del Bosque has a difficult choice to make.
“He has the ability to emulate [Casillas, yes,” Del Bosque said about De Gea.
“We forget sometimes that he has spent four or five seasons as Manchester United’s goalkeeper.

“And if you look at the other keepers they’ve had, that’s la leche [the business] - this is the goal defended by [Peter] Schmeichel, [Edwin] Van der Sar, [Fabien] Barthez: three great goalkeepers.
“Then along comes this kid and, bit by bit, establishes himself. But look, it’s very difficult to do what Iker has done, in terms of quality and quantity.”
Chelsea striker Diego Costa is in line to feature for his country when they take on England in a friendly on Friday.
The Spaniard has come in for criticism in recent weeks, with reports suggesting his future at Stamford Bridge is in doubt.
