CHELSEA have been offered hope in their pursuit for Argentinian striker Jonathan Calleri.
The 22-year-old Boca Juniors star has been on fire this season and attracted interest from England.
Stoke and Brighton, along with the champions, have been linked with moves.
Calleri has bagged 21 goals and 11 assists in all competitions this season and is rated as one of the hottest prospects in South America.
Chelsea had him watched in Boca's friendly against Mexican outfit Puebla FC last week, according to the Daily Star.
And Boca president Daniel Angelici admits if the money's right, he will allow him to leave.
"He could be sold at Christmas as there are good offers and we don't want to stand in his way," Angelici told Radio America.
"But at the moment, no deal has been closed, and there is only chatter."
Chelsea are keen to bolster their attacking options after a disappointing defence to their title.
But Jose Mourinho has today backed Diego Costa to go on a run after scoring against Norwich this weekend.
He said: "For a striker it’s always important not to be for a long time without scoring, because they feel the pressure.
"For him I think to score and to score the winning goal can have a positive influence."
