CHELSEA have been named as favourites to sign Lionel Messi should rumours that he will leave Barcelona next summer come to fruition.
Earlier this season Messi said he was happy to stay at Barcelona in La Liga, but refused to rule out a future move to the Premier League.
The Argentinian will doubtless be asking teammate Luis Suarez, who arrived at Barcelona from the Premier League in 2014, for advice about the league, but the question now remains as to which club could lure him away from Spain.
Skybet have installed Chelsea as 8/1 favourites to sign the 28-year-old before the end of next summer's transfer window.
If Jose Mourinho's side also offload Eden Hazard, as speculation suggests they might, then those odds would be slashed as the fee fetch for the Belgian would free up further cash for Chelsea to spend on Messi.
Next in line for Messi's signature are Arsenal (12/1), followed by Manchester City (14/1) and Manchester United (18/1), although the financial implications for any club paying for one of the best attackers of all time will be wide-reaching.
