A WOMAN celebrated wearing a bikini for the first time in 15 years after her husband treated her to a new BODY.
Emma Beardmore's devoted husband treated her to an £8,000 body-lift she had always dreamed of as an early 40th birthday present.
The soon-to-be 40-year-old was gifted a tummy tuck and breast augmentation by her husband Paul, 42, as a joint present for the couple's wedding anniversary, her birthday and Christmas.
The operation saw her increase her cup size from an A to a D - and has meant she finally felt confident enough to wear a bikini for the first time in 15 years.
Speaking about her new body, Emma said: "Before, I was quite a reserved person because of all the hang ups I had about my body.
"I would never have worn a bikini on the beach. I'd always cover up with kaftans. But after the surgery, Paul and I went to Lanzarote and for the first time in 15 years, I felt confident enough to show my body.
"Paul was really encouraging and laughing at people doing double takes when they looked at me."
The administrator said she struggled to get her pre-pregnancy figure back after giving birth to her daughter 14 years go.
She admits she fell into a "lull" with eating after becoming a mother, which eventually saw her weight creep up to 14st 11lb.
She added: "I'd live on junk food, like kebabs, takeaways and pizzas and never do any exercise."
It wasn't until she saw an unflattering picture of herself at a friend's wedding she realised there was an issue.
She said: "I was completely shocked when I saw it. I had no idea how big I'd gotten.
"My face, my arms – everything looked huge."
Emma joined a local gym in threw herself into a new exercise regime, but she admits she felt too body-conscious to really push herself during work outs.
"I'd be running on the treadmill and be very aware of people around me," she said. "I just felt like all my bits were wobbling and that everybody would look.
"Because of that, I didn't really push myself at first. When I started to get tired, I'd just stop instead of working through it."
Now, she works out five times a week, and has completely overhauled her diet, eating small protein-heavy and vegetable-packed meals instead of fatty takeaways.
In August this year with her target weight reached, she decided it was time to book the surgery she had always dreamed of.
"I figured I wasn't going to get any fitter than I am now, so the time was right.
"I spoke to Paul and he said he wanted to treat me to the surgery as a joint birthday, anniversary and Christmas present."
It has been 11 weeks since Emma's tummy tuck and breast augmentation, which was done through cosmetic surgery experts Mya and she said she is recovering well.
Reflecting on her story, she said: "I dieted and hit the gym so I could achieve my dream and Mya has given me back my confidence .
"I recently went on holiday for the first time in several years and walked around in a bikini, no cover up needed, as I'm now proud of my body."
