DAVID HAYE has told Tyson Fury he will only face him if he can dethrone Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday.
But the former world heavyweight champion gives his British rival only a “one in 20” chance of doing so.
Haye, 35, announced his return to the ring today after three-and-a-half years out and he will face Australian Mark de Mori on January 16 at the O2 Arena in London.
Fury takes on WBO, WBA and IBF title holder Klitschko on Saturday night in Dusseldorf and Haye admits he will only face the Manchester-born traveller if he pulls off a shock.
He said: “The only way Tyson Fury would ever be on my radar is if he ever did become world champion.
“If Tyson Fury was the unified champion, which he could possibly become if he wins on Saturday night, then he will be the man to beat.
“But I very much doubt that will happen, so he is not on my radar.
“Is he going to beat Wladimir Klitschko, who is a consummate professional inside and outside the ring. I only give him a 1 in 20 shot.
“OK, anything can happen in heavyweight boxing, nobody expected Buster Douglas to beat Mike Tyson or Michael Moorer to beat Evander Holyfield.”
Haye twice pulled out of facing Fury through injury, the first time because of a cut and then because of a shoulder injury.
And the former cruiserweight world champion questioned his rival’s record.
He said: “You never write a big man off, but in terms of technical ability, and the issue of has Tyson Fury beaten anybody world class – you have to question that.
“The best guy on Fury’s record was Dereck Chisora, you look at Klitschko and it is a whole different story.
“This is Tyson Fury’s first introduction to world heavyweight boxing.
“His first would have been me, but that fight didn’t happen because of injury.
“So to have your first introductory fight against Klitschko means it is going to be a very hard night for him. But it’s going to be exciting while it lasts.”
Haye wants to become heavyweight champion again and will be trained by Shane McGuigan.
He also has eyes on undefeated prospect and Olympic gold medallist Anthony Joshua, who fights Dillian Whyte for the British heavyweight title on December 12.
Haye added: “My aim is to regain the heavyweight championship of the world.
“In the time I have been out of the ring injured, Anthony Joshua has had his whole professional boxing career.
“It is an interesting time, you have got new faces, Dillian Whyte also, and there’s a great match-up coming up between those two.
“There are some nice young guns it will be interesting to mix into this situation, but my only goal is to win the heavyweight championship of the world.
“Whether it be Wladimir Klitschko, Deontay Wilder or Ruslan Chagaev. I just want that heavyweight strap around my waist. I want to win all of the belts.”
