ALEXIS SANCHEZ faces a spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw with Norwich.
The livewire Chilean pulled up when chasing a ball with Ryan Bennett and went down clutching his right leg.
He was immediately taken off and replaced by Joel Campbell, who offered little in the closing stages.
It is a major setback for Arsenal ahead of a busy Christmas period and a decisive Champions League clash with Olympiakos.
And Wenger admitted he did not know how long Sanchez will be out for.
He said: "We lost Alexis Sanchez, I do not know how long he will be out but it is a big blow.
"Sanchez was an important loss today, he pushes defenders back and is always incisive with his dribbling."
The Frenchman then revealed Santi Cazorla also picked up a knock and Laurent Koscielny, who went off with a hip problem will be assessed on Monday.
"Cazorla finished on one leg, Koscielny we will have to assess tomorrow," he added.
