MIKEL ARTETA has revealed he might imitate some of Arsene Wenger’s managerial techniques should he become a manager one day.
The 33-year-old midfielder is out of contract with the Gunners at the end of the season.
With no sign of a new deal in the offing, Arteta’s Emirates future remains uncertain.
Wenger has presided over the Gunners for over 19 years, and Arteta, who is currently taking his coaching badges, believes he can tap into Wenger’s winning mentality.
“It’s great that I’ve had the chance to play under some great managers,” Arteta told Match of the Day magazine.
“Hopefully I can take things that I like, and things that I don’t like, and use that knowledge. Who knows what will happen in the future?”
Arteta however admits he’s not thinking about what he will do yet when he eventually hangs up his boots.
He said: “I’m currently doing my coaching badges and I’m really enjoying it, but I’m totally focused on my football career and this is still my priority.
“However, this doesn’t mean that I can’t prepare for what’s coming over the next few years and my life after playing.”
The latest edition of Match of the Day magazine is out on sale now.
