Words of warning: Sir Tom's unusual career advice for One Direction
Sir Tom Jones says 1D will have to make serious sacrifices
HAVING been at the top of his game for more than half a century Sir Tom Jones knows a thing or two about career longevity.

And the increasingly outspoken star has some words of warning for the likes of One Direction if they're wanting to follow in his esteemed footsteps- saying they need to make serious sacrifices.
"I don't think One Direction have 50 years. They won't do that. No matter what time I go to bed I look at the clock and get eight hours sleep," the 75-year old tells Day & Night at The Q Awards at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
And Sir Tom, who has recently released autobiography Over The Top and Back as well as new album Lost Suitcase, reckons mastering the art the art of sophisticated drinking and giving up cigarettes are the two things which helped him the most.

"If I go to a club it's champagne, I have a Cuban cigar maybe two or three a week and I still like a wine with dinner and a cognac afterwards but it's sophisticated and you don't inhale cigars like cigarettes. Cigarettes burn and dry out your vocals cords and I stopped in the sixties."
And Sir Tom says it's the strain on vocal chords that often curtails careers, adding: "A lot of singers nowadays are putting their voice in a place where it is heady. They do vocal gymnastics and they want to get as many notes as they possibly can, it's not natural and damages your voice. That and smoking."

MIRANDA KERR showed off her impressive washboard stomach in an eye-catching ensemble at the twenty second Annual ELLE Women in Hollywood Awards, this week.
The 32-year-old former Victoria's Secret model looked ABS-olutely fabulous as she posed in the powder blue, satin, bandage crop-top that featured a belt wrapped around her waist.
The mum-of-one, who says she keeps in shape by eating healthily 80 percent of the time and indulging in treats the other 20 percent, teamed the top with a matching loose-fitting blazer and trousers.
Miranda was joined by three of the evening's eight honorees - actresses Kate Winslet, Carey Mulligan and Salma Hayek - at the glitzy ceremony, which was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, on Monday evening.

The actress says she is keen to help others improve their own lives by sharing her experiences.
"It's about finding what works for you," she tells America's Allure magazine.
"And I'll share the things that have worked for me."
However, Kate, who's Mum of course is Goldie Hawn and Dad Kurt Russell, insists she isn't trying to redefine herself as an all-knowing self-help expert and has no plans to become the latest celebrity lifestyle blogger, because her own history has been so complicated.
"There's stuff in my own past," she adds.
"It was like I've joined a circus. I didn't join an idea of a perfect life."
