Chelsea are closing in on the signing of former AC Milan keeper Marco Amelia.
The Blues are short in goal after the injury to Thibaut Courtois.
Jose Mourinho is worried that an injury to Asmir Begovic could throw Chelsea's season further into chaos.
And Amelia has been on trial at Stamford Bridge this week ahead of a short term deal.
“We have at the moment Marco Amelia with us, working with us for a couple of days," Mourinho said.
"He’s an experienced goalkeeper, he knows what a big club is.
“He knows the responsibility of playing in the Champions League, his national team.
“The last couple of years he didn’t play so much and hasn’t trained with a team for a few months, but what you need is some cover and stability until Courtois is back.
“Maybe he’s the guy to give us that.”
Arsene Wenger backed off trying to sign Anthony Martial from Monaco this summer, because he thought he was "unsellable".
Martial moved to Manchester United for £36million, rising to £58m with add-ons, on deadline day and has scored four times already.
The 19-year-old has helped United to the top of the Premier League but Wenger defends his decision not to make a move.

“So we never made any approach for him.
“Yes, but United managed to do it because they paid special money.”
Manchester United defender Donald Love has joined Wigan on loan.
The 20-year-old has signed a two-month deal.
Latics boss Gary Caldwell said: "We needed to fill this gap in the squad.
"Jonjoe's departure and the long-term injury to Kevin McNaughton has left a gap in the squad for a specialist right-sided defender and in that respect Donald fits the bill.
"He's a young player still learning but we have had him watched and we believe he has immense potential. He's quick, strong and can play in several different positions defensively. Let's hope he can start realising some of that potential here."
