Tottenham spirit proves Liverpool are in desperate need of new players - Murphy
Jurgen Klopp (left) cannot transfer Liverpool overnight, claims Danny Murphy
LIVERPOOL must sign high-tempo players to fit Jurgen Klopp’s tactics, insists former Reds midfielder Danny Murphy.
Klopp, 48, oversaw his first match as Liverpool boss at Tottenham this afternoon.
The club are understood to be drawing up a list of January transfer targets, having given former manager Brendan Rodgers almost £100million to spend last summer.
And Murphy, who played for Liverpool between 1997 and 2004, says Klopp must buy players instead of hoping to transform the current squad.
"Let's not get carried away - Klopp is not Jesus,” Murphy told BBC 5 Live.

“He cannot turn Mamadou Sakho into Vincent Kompany or Danny Ings into Sergio Aguero.
“It'll take time for him to put his stamp on this team."

Murphy also compered Liverpool to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad at Spurs.
"I have seen three or four Tottenham players joking about how tough their pre-season was, he said.
“That's because Pochettino likes to play high-tempo football, and so does Klopp.
“But the difference is Liverpool haven't got the right type of players. Give it a year and they might do."
