Virgin Active members were surprised to see their health club replaced some of its gym equipment |
WE all know taking a work-out seriously means eating properly too, and Virgin Active are taking a step to help us understand what we're putting into our bodies.
Now, not only are they providing the equipment to work out with but now they’re giving the tools to complement work outs with what to eat to make sure everyone gets the most from the experience.
To celebrate this fact, Virgin Active members were surprised to see their health club replaced some of its traditional gym equipment with much tastier replicas.
From dumbbells to kettlebells, and even skipping ropes, they replaced the equipment with healthy fruit, vegetables and grains.
Virgin Active’s Diet Code helps members understand a new way of making food choices; it's a programme designed in conjunction with experts at Soulmatefood.
Head of Fitness, Andy Birch explained: "At Virgin Active we want every single member to have the nutritional knowledge to not take fad diets at face value, to understand good nutrition, to not be swayed by marketing myths, and most importantly to always ask 'How will this help me?'"

The unique edible artworks include a trainer made from radishes, sun-dried tomatoes and rhubarb; boxing gloves made of red peppers, chilli peppers and kidney beans, and skipping ropes made of leeks, courgettes, pulses and beans.
Virgin Active’s Diet Code menu of fresh and tasty meals, snacks and juices is available in 60 clubs from this month.
Developed with Soulmatefood, the Diet Code is a fully joined up approach to fitness and nutrition and suitable for everyone, regardless of their goals.
The Diet Code is simple but effective, each item on the menu is labelled either Burn, Balance or Build so that members can make an informed and personalised choice about what they eat pre- and post-workout.
