RIO FERDINAND insists Wayne Rooney has more than repaid Manchester United's faith in him.
The BBC aired a documentary last night called Rooney: The Man Behind the Goals which charted the striker's highs and lows in the game as well as exploring his family life.Ferdinand, who is now retired, fondly remembers his time with Rooney during their glory years together at Old Trafford.Rooney has netted 235 times in 490 appearances for the Red Devils, placing him in the top bracket of the club's all-time leading goalscorers.And Ferdinand has explained why Rooney has been a hit success for United."A lot has been made of the Wayne Rooney documentary last night," Ferdinand told BreatheSport."It’s no surprise to see a positive reaction to not only his ability but his personality. "He is a family man & is just a normal lad who I have spent a lot of time with over the years. "There are a lot of pressures when you move to Manchester United at such a young age. If you’re mentally weak and don’t have the desire to keep wanting to be the best every year, you fail.
