Brendan Rodgers was sacked after the Everton game |
BRENDAN RODGERS learned of his dismissal during a phone call with Liverpool's owners, according to reports.
Rodgers was given his marching orders a few hours after his side's 1-1 draw against Merseyside rivals Everton.
The Reds are believed to have already begun their search for a new manager, and former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp tops their shortlist.
But Rodgers, who was sacked just eight games into the season, learned of his fate the hard way.
The Independent claim Fenway Sports Group (FSG) president Mike Gordon phoned Rodgers to inform him of their decision.
The call was made after Rodgers and the team returned to the club's Melwood training complex.
Liverpool currently lie in 10th spot in the league table.
