Mariano Diaz in action for Real Madrid Castilla |
REAL MADRID striker Mariano Diaz is stalling on a new contract, according to reports.
The Dominican international has starred for Castilla this season, and is the top scorer for Zinedine Zidane’s team with seven goals in just 442 minutes in Segunda B.
Madrid, who were previously unsure on the player, have been impressed with the forward's form this term and have opened negotiations over a new deal.
The 22-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the current campaign, will only stay with Madrid if he is offered a first-team contract.
But according to Goal, Los Blancos are only willing to give the Barcelona-born Diaz an extension at Castilla, which he is likely to reject.
They claim striker is likely to choose a move to the Premier League over moving to another team in Spain, alerting Arsenal and Manchester United.
Diaz received offers from Spain's Primera and Segunda divisions in the summer but chose to stay in Madrid.
However, Madrid’s attempts to tie him down to a long deal may have come too late as the player ponders a move away from Spain.
