Nearly HALF of Brits don't 'believe' they'll catch AIDs/HIV despite not using a condom
Half of young Brits surveyed don't believe they'll catch AIDs/HIV
SCARY new figures have shown nearly half of young Brits don't believe they could catch HIV/AIDs, even if they have sex without a condom.

It would appear our nation's young are burying their head in the ground when it comes to the stark reality of catching sexually transmitted infections.
In a new survey from Durex, it's been revealed 40 per cent of 16-24s admitted they’d had sex with more than one person without a condom.

More worrying is that a whopping 48 per cent of those quizzed believe contracting HIV/AIDs is "not something that could happen their friendship group".
Avert - an international HIV and AIDS charity, based in the UK - revealed that as of the end of 2012, there were 27,798 diagnoses of AIDS in the UK, and 21,117 people living with HIV died.

Youngsters aren't bothered with wearing condoms to protect themselves either, it's revealed
This insight into young Britons' minds has revealed it's a "lack of confidence" getting in-between them and using a condom.
Interviews with young women as part of the research found while they knew they should insist on using a condom every time, the reality is they are worried it could kill the mood.
This fear of rejection is a key barrier and Durex wants to bust myths about how boys actually feel when a girl insists on using a condom – 79 per cent of young men said it’s a turn on when a girl insists on a condom.
The new ‘When It’s On It’s On’ campaign from the condom company is using this message to flip the ‘condom moment’ from a situation that causes worry into something good for both parties.
Mark Pearson, Durex's Regional Brand Director, said: "Naturally safe sex should be both partners’ responsibility but what we learned from lots of young men during the research is that girls are very much the gatekeepers – what they say goes.

"Young women told us that while they knew that they should insist on a condom every time, the reality is often when the moment comes, a condom isn’t used for any number of reasons.
"One common reason we heard was that they worried that if they insisted on a condom they’d kill the mood or put the guy off."
He added: "This fear of rejection or killing the mood is a key barrier for many young women but we found out that this most often isn’t the case at all. In fact the opposite is true."
The campaign is being launched with a hard hitting new film which focuses on groups of young people (one male group, one female group).
It brings to life the genuine surprise among the girls when they realise what the boys REALLY say about sex and using a condom when they think there are no girls around to hear them.
