Daniel Sturridge has struggled to stay fit for Liverpool this season |
JURGEN KLOPP could consider selling Daniel Sturridge if he can't stay fit, claims Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson.
The England international returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines this month after a hip injury which he received treatment for in the USA over the summer.
However, he has since picked up another knock and has missed the Red's last three games with a knee injury.
Former Liverpool defender Phil Thompson has already urged Klopp to find an 'upgrade' in the January transfer window.
And now Lawrenson has reiterated his claims, suggesting the former Borussia Dortmund boss can't wait around forever for the 26-year-old.
"He may start looking at Daniel Sturridge and think 'How many games are you going to actually play for me this season?'", he told the Liverpool Echo.
"He may then think 'what if I get him fit and he only plays half-a-dozen games?' and maybe 'what if I sell him?'
"These are all things he is probably going to think about over the coming weeks and months.
"Liverpool are struggling without Sturridge. The difference he makes can be seen on how the team plays when he isn't there.
"We've really been struggling to break down teams and the lack of a consistent striker is really hurting us now."
