Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick could return for Manchester United's trip to Everton |
MANCHESTER UNITED could welcome back four first-team players for their next Premier League match away to Everton.
Louis van Gaal's side travel to Goodison Park on October 17, with Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick, Marcos Rojo and Ander Herrera all vying for a return.
They travel to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League the following Wednesday before the big Manchester derby at Old Trafford, where a number of key players could be getting back towards full match fitness.
Rooney has an ankle knock, while Carrick has a groin problem. The pair have returned from international duty with England after missing Friday's European Championship qualifier against Estonia.
However, England manager Roy Hodgson handed United a boost by claiming both will be fit for the Everton trip.
"From (Wayne Rooney's) point of view, and United’s, the rest will do him good," he said.
Marcos Rojo has not played since the 3-2 over Southampton at St Mary's |
Ander Herrera is also vying for a return to the side |
"Michael Carrick trained fully in quite an intense training session on Wednesday but he had a re-occurrence of a feeling that he sometimes gets in his groin – a slight tightening of the groin – and we didn’t want to take any chances."
Rojo hasn't played since the 3-2 win over Southampton on September 20 and Herrera has been absent from the last two games but is now back in full training.
