Liverpool News: Defender injury boost, star wants move, 'Messi' heir drops to League One
Jon Flanagan is targeting a return to fitness in December
NEWS NEWS BLOG SPORT brings you all the latest news from Anfield.
Liverpool have been handed a much-needed injury boost as defender Jon Flanagan says he hopes to be back by December.
The 22-year-old has not played a competitive match since May last year but is confident of coming back before Christmas.
The news will come as a boost to Liverpool after both Danny Ings and Joe Gomez were ruled out for the rest of the season.
“It’s been going well. It’s obviously been a frustrating time since last year when I got the injury,” he said.
“I’m back running now and hopefully I can push on and get back in the team in a couple of months.
Elsewhere, the Reds may well have been alerted to the fact that Andriy Yarmolenko wants a big move.
The Ukraine international signed a new five-year contract at Dynamo Kiev earlier today but admits he wants to to move nonetheless and has been linked with a move to Anfield in the past.

Andriy Yarmolenko has signed a new deal at Dynamo Kiev but is still interested in a move
"I still want to try my hand at some of the top championships as part of one of the strongest European clubs," he said.
One player who won't be trying his hand at a top European club is former red Joe Cole.
Once described as better than Lionel Messi by former skipper Steven Gerrard, Cole has been through a spectacular fall from grace since leaving Merseyside.
And today it was confirmed he has joined League One Coventry on a 35-day emergency loan.
