Robbie Fowler wants to work with Jurgen Klopp |
ROBBIE FOWLER wants to work with Jurgen Klopp when he takes over as Liverpool manager.
News News Blog Sport understands Klopp will take over at Anfield by the end of this week after Rodgers was sacked on Sunday.
Rodgers learned his fate on the phone following the 1-1 draw in the Merseyside derby.
And Fowler, currently an ambassador at the club, has backed Klopp to bring the glory days back and admits he's desperate for a piece of the action.
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested,” Fowler said.
“If a new manager comes in I’d love to be part of the backroom staff.
"Liverpool is a massive part of my life; if that was to be the case then I would absolutely love that.
“My personal view on Klopp is that he is a very good manager.
"I don’t know him, I’ve never met him, but looking at it from the outside I was impressed with his performances over in Germany with Dortmund. I like what I see.”
Rodgers yesterday released a statment saying he was disappointed to be sacked but wishing the club well for the future.
"It has been an honour and a privilege to manage one of the game's great clubs for the last three years," he said.
"I have worked every day to represent the club to the best of my ability, to develop both individual players and a team that the club's magnificent fans can be proud of.
“There have been some very memorable moments during my time at Liverpool and I would like to thank all of the players for their hard work and commitment.
“The current squad is one in transition, but they have some real talent and are showing a strong sense of togetherness. I expect to see them continue to grow and develop over the coming weeks and I wish them and my successor well for the rest of the season.
“Liverpool has a magnificent football heritage and I have nothing but respect and admiration for the history, tradition and values that make the city and the club so exceptional.
