Joe Gomez could be set for a long spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury |
Gomez hurt his right knee playing for England’s under-21s in their 3-0 European Championship qualifying win over Kazakhstan on Tuesday night.
The 18-year-old was replaced 10 minutes from the end of the game at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena and underwent scans yesterday.
And if suspected anterior cruciate ligament damage is confirmed, that could mean a lay-off of between six and nine months.
That would be a blow both for Klopp and Gomez, who has made an impressive start to his Anfield career.
Signed from Charlton Athletic in the summer for £3.5m, the versatile defender started Liverpool’s first five Premier League games of the season at left-back under former boss Brendan Rodgers.
This injury will be Jurgen Klopp's first serious setback since joining Liverpool |
