Daniel Sturridge has been sent for another scan on his knee injury |
Sturridge has missed Klopp’s first two games after damaging the joint following a challenge with team-mate Jordon Ibe in training last week.
Klopp was hoping Sturridge would be fit for Sunday’s game with Southampton, but admits the striker’s fitness is now in doubt once again.
The forward will not train today and Klopp said: “We spoke a few minutes ago with him, it’s not much better.
“With Daniel’s injury we have to see day by day.
“If he can train for example tomorrow, if, completely normal then he is an option because his break has not been too long.
"But I have to wait for this.
“Today we have another treatment and another scan maybe because there is still a little bit of fluid inside the knee. It’s day by day.”
Daniel Sturridge has only featured in three games this season, the last being the Merseyside derby |
But last season the England striker’s campaign was decimated by thigh and calf injuries and ended prematurely when he underwent hip surgery and spent the best part of four months rehabilitating in the USA.
He featured in 12 out of 38 matches, a rate of 21.93 per cent, and playing only 750 minutes out of 3,420.
Sturridge featured in three matches before Brendan Rodgers was sacked this season.
