Jill Scott nets winner as England women's team end tournament on a high note

THE ENGLAND women’s football team ended their Dewellbon Cup campaign in China on a high yesterday when Isobel Christiansen’s winning goal beat World Cup quarter-finalists Australia.
 
The Manchester City midfielder was played in by club-mate Lucy Bronze and beat Aussie keeper Lydia Williams from an acute angle to seal the 1-0 win.
England had lost their opening game of the mini-tournament in Yongchuan to hosts China. The match was notable for Jill Scott, below, celebrating her 100th cap. The Manchester City star joins Casey Stoney, Alex Scott, Rachel Yankey and record holder Fara Williams in England’s 100-club.

“It was a special day, one of the best of my life, and I’m glad we could sign off with a win,” she said.
England face Germany in Duisburg in a friendly on November 26, three days before a Euro 2017 qualifier against Bosnia in Bristol.
