HAPPY BIRTHDAY Instagram – the wildly popular social media service turns five yesterday.
It started as the dream of two friends and is used by people all over the world to document their lives in pictures.
Over the first five years of its life it has seen more than 40 billion photos shared, with 80 million uploads a day, and 3.5 billion likes every day.
It attracts some of the most rich and famous, providing a platform for stars such as Rihanna and Justin Bieber to share intimate moments with fans.
What Do You Mean hitmaker Justin Bieber signed up in July 2011 and boasts a staggering 40 million followers.
Last month he admitted: "Instagram is about dudes looking at pretty girls, that's basically it.
"I'm just saying that, of course girls like looking at dudes, but it's not the same as how much dudes like looking at chicks."
And Rihanna's feed, @badgalriri, lives up to its name, with an endless array of racy pictures of the Diamonds star.
She vanished from the site for six months last year after uploading controversial topless snaps from a magazine photoshoot.
This is the image she shared upon her return in November, picking up almost 600,000 likes.
When Kim Kardashian and Kanye West shared their shared their first kiss after their wedding on Instagram, it became the most liked photo on Instagram of 2014.
But in June this year, Kim's younger sister Kendall Jenner took the title by posting a photo that has gained more than three million likes.
She made a playful joke after passing the milestone, tweeting: "Take that KimYe!"
David Beckham joined the site this year to celebrate his 40th birthday and reached one million followers in just one day.
He wrote: "Good morning and hello! It’s great to finally be on Instagram, been a long time coming but I can’t wait to start sharing all my special moments with you.
"Thank you for all your birthday messages so far. Looking forward to a great day with friends and family x
He is one of the UK's top five accounts along with One Direction's Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne and Real Madrid and Wales footballer Gareth Bale.
And in July Mario Testino used Instagram to reveal his first official pictures of Princess Charlotte.
