This sketch shows how bunions affect your feet
News News Blog have put together five top tips to avoid bunions - Victoria Beckham and Amal Clooney, take note.
1. Pointy shoes and heels will generally put more pressure on the toes, as they crowd the toes - which can lead to a bunion. Be weary about this when you are purchasing shoes, they might look fashionable, but painful feet are not!
2. Make sure you are wearing the correct size shoes as well. It might sound like an obvious thing, but ill-fitting shoes that cramp the toes together (for long periods of time) will put pressure on the feet resulting in bunions and blisters

3. If you are wearing properly fitted shoes, but are still suffering from painful bunions, invest in some padding (such as Carnation's Fleecy Webb, Bunion pads or Bunion Protector) that will help to take the pressure away from the bunion and ultimately the pain
4. Genetics do play a factor when it comes to bunions. A podiatrist will be able to advise you if you are worried that you might be affected.
5. It is a good idea to exercise the feet and big toes, with simple toe stretches and rolling the feet with Carnation's PediRoller. These exercises will help to keep ligaments supple and working in a full range of motion. Keep moving!
