Graeme Souness surprised by Liverpool's decision to sack Brendan Rodgers |
LIVERPOOL legend Graeme Souness admits he's stunned his former club have decided to sack boss Brendan Rodgers.
The dismissal came after a 1-1 draw in the Merseyside derby against Everton at Goodison Park.
The Reds came close in the 2013-14 season to winning the league under Rodgers but they were way off the pace last season and currently sit 10th in the standings.
And while Souness is 'amazed' by the news, he admits he was surprised to see the Northern Irishman appointed in the first place.
"I'm stunned," the former Liverpool man said. "They gave him a load of money in the summer and I find it amazing.
"But with all due respect I don’t see why they gave Brendan Rodgers the job in the first place.
"Liverpool go out and buy the best young players, develop them and then hope to sell them. They have become a selling club."
