Garry Monk threatens to wield the axe to Swansea stars
Garry Monk has threatened Swansea's stars with the axe if results don't improve
GARRY MONK has told his Swansea stars they face the axe if they deliver another below-par display against Tottenham tomorrow.

The Welsh club are without a win since the international break and were comprehensively beaten by Southampton last time out.
Monk branded the St Mary’s horror show unacceptable and he has made it clear to his players they will find themselves watching from the sidelines if there is no improvement against Spurs.

“Everyone’s positions are under threat because we have good competition and players know what can happen if they don’t perform,” he said.
”You have to fight every single day and every single game for the shirt. It’s not about a lack of effort or commitment, but we didn’t get ourselves right and do the things we’re good at.
“It cost us in the games against Watford and Southampton, It would be a different situation if they weren’t working hard, but you have to perform.

“It hasn't been good enough and as a player you have to accept responsibility, as I do as manager because I make the decisions.
“We've all been hurting, none of us want to be associated with that, none of us want those types of performances, we want to make it right.”
And Monk revealed some there had been some brutal honesty in assessing where his men had gone wrong.

“The players have been told straight,” he said. “I was a little more annoyed with that performance. I am fair with them but I have to be open and honest with them.
“If something needs to be said, it gets said. They know that and they are accountable to themselves and each other.
“I wouldn’t say I ranted at them, but players know themselves when they are underperforming of done something wrong.
“But I have let them know how serious it is but in a constructive way.”
