Tim Sherwood has come under increasing pressure at Aston Villa |
REAL SOCIEDAD boss David Moyes has been tipped to replace the under-pressure Tim Sherwood at Aston Villa.
Villa have failed to win since beating promoted Bournemouth on the opening weekend and are currently on a run of six defeats in their last seven Premier League outings. As a result, Sherwood's side languish third from bottom in the standings and four points short of safety. And according to the Daily Mirror, former Manchester United boss Moyes is an early favourite to take charge at Villa Park should owner Randy Lerner decide to sack Sherwood.Despite his disappointing 10-month spell at Old Trafford, the Scot is still held in high regard after his successful decade in charge at Everton.Brendan Rodgers, who was recently dismissed at Liverpool following three years at the helm, is also believed to be high on the list of possible replacements. However, Villa's assistant manager Ray Wilkins believes it would be a 'huge mistake' to lose Sherwood and has backed the 46-year-old to get it right.

Brendan Rodgers has also been linked with replacing Tim Sherwood |
He said: “When you’re a Premier League manager you’re dreading the season’s first sacking, because once the first goes the rest seem to buck up a bit of courage and follow suit.“I think it would be a huge mistake as far as Tim and Aston Villa are concerned.“He’s an up-and-coming manager and let’s not forget, it was only six or seven months ago that we were in the FA Cup final and staved off relegation."
