Back me or sack me! Jose Mourinho fights back after Southampton stun Chelsea
Chelsea slumped to a 3-1 defeat at home to Southampton
FURIOUS Jose Mourinho last night issued a defiant challenge to Chelsea: Back me or sack me!

But an explosive seven minute outburst after seeing his side beaten 3-1 at home by Southampton he warned owner Roman Abromovich and the Chelsea board not to sack him - because he is the best in the world!
He said: "There is no way I will resign. Chelsea can not have a better manager than me. There are many managers in the world at my level - but none better.
"There is no way I will run away. I have my professional ride and I know – I am good at my job.

"I love this club and `I want the best for my club. And the best for my club is to stay.
"No other club could ever persuade me to leave. I said that when we were champions and I say that again unless the owner or the board want me to leave.
"When the club asked me to come back they said that before they had changed manager when the results got bad but were now going in a different direction.

"Now it is time for the club to act in a way of stability and trust. It is time for us all to pull together even when we are at the bottom of the league.
"I want to make it clear: I do not run away. If the club wants to sack me they have to sack me, because I am not running away from my responsibility for my team.
To be champions is difficult, but I am more than convinced we will finish top four. And if you finish top four when the season is so bad, it is ok.
"But if the club sacks me they sack the best manager this club ever had.
"This is a moment when people assume responsibilities, including me the players and other people in the club. We need to stick together, this is what I want."
Mourinho went on to risk the wrath of the Football Association as well by having another blast at referees, this time Robert Madley who, he claimed, had denied his side two penalties yesterday.
He went on: "When you are so down I think it is time to be honest and say clearly that referees are afraid to give decisions to Chelsea.
"At 1-1 there is a huge penalty and once more we do not get it. It was at a crucial moment in the game.

"I repeat, if the FA wants to punish me they can punish me, it is not a problem. But I want to repeat because my players deserve it, Chelsea fans deserve it. I am a Chelsea fan too.
"I wan to say again that referees are afraid to give decisions to Chelsea.
"The decision in the last minute is crucial, but the first negative thing that happens the team collapse.
"The team mentally, psychologically the team is unbelievably down. It looks like good players are bad players.
"But players still have to play to the end of the season with a gold champions badge on their shirt and I want to work as always.
"You know I have big self esteem and a big ego. I consider myself the best. The worst period and worst results of my career as a professional hurts me a lot.

Back me or sack me! Jose Mourinho fights back after Southampton stun Chelsea
Southampton secured an impressive victory over Chelsea
"Doing it at Chelsea hurts me twice, as a professional and also because I like this club very much. It was because of that I came back."
Mourinho's outburst was in stark contrast to Southampton's Ronald Koeman.
He said: "I am very proud of the players. We were the better team, had the better chances, and totally deserved the win.
"Mane played fantastically, but the whole team performance was impressive. To win against teams like Chelsea you need your best players at that high level.
"Sadio was dangerous with his movement. It was impossible to defend well against him. But the whole team performance was perfect.
"It was a long time ago that we won an away game. This is one of the best places to get it, but we have to keep working.
"We showed a great second half today, and it's now an international break. We hope everyone comes back in good shape and we can try and play good football. That's the key for us to win games.”
