Arsene Wenger hails Petr Cech in Bayern Munich win |
ARSENE WENGER has singled out Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech for praise in tonight’s 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich.
The former Chelsea stopper was key for the Gunners as they secured their first win of Group F with a number of important saves.
The Germans, who had scored 38 goals in their 12-match winning run in all competitions this season, dominated in possession but couldn’t beat Cech with their six shots on target.
And Wenger hailed the impact of the experienced 33-year-old, along with his Bayern counterpart Manuel Neuer.
"It was a game of top quality,” Wenger said. We played with disciplined intensity. Both keepers made great saves.
"Petr Cech was a key figure. He was intelligent, everything was classy. There were two world class goalkeepers out there tonight."

Olivier Giroud scored in the 77th minute at the Emirates Stadium, bundling the ball into the net after Neuer rushed off his line and failed to claim a free kick from Santi Cazorla.
And Mesut Ozil scored the second in added time, converting a cross from Hector Bellerin which Neuer pushed out after it had crossed the line.
